What can be placed on reserve?
- Books
- Photocopied articles
- Sheet music
- DVDs and CDs
- Software
- Things (eg. a box of rocks!)
- Anything you want your students to use or read
The items you place on reserve can be library copies or personal copies. We are not legally allowed to accept instructor's copies, examination copies, desk copies, or review copies of textbooks for placement on reserve.
The library abides by the Copyright Law and only places one copy of an article on reserve under "Fair Use." It is the faculty member's responsibility to initiate copyright clearance if multiple copies are to be placed on reserve.
What kinds of reserves are there?
- Closed: The item does not leave the library and checks out for 3 hours
- Open: The item may check out for the instructor's choice of time length (overnight, 2 days, 7 days).
How do I place an item on reserve?
- Utica Campus Library: Bring item(s) to Aiko Kane (x5669). You will need to fill out a form for each course.
- Rome Campus Library: Bring item(s) to Chelsea McGrath (x7728) at the Rome Campus Library or to the librarian on-duty in Rome. You will need to fill out a form for each course.
