Assistive Technology at MVCC Libraries

Many accessibility features are integrated into our website and databases, such as headings, text-to-speech options, ADA compliant PDFs, and captioned/transcribed videos. Any digital content created by library staff is expected to meet best practices as recommended by WCAG 2.0 and SUNY EIT.

Supplemental technology has been purchased to help fill in the gaps to make other library resources accessible.

Software

  • ZoomText - text magnifier for low vision computer users available in Utica Campus Library Accommodation Room
  • Read & Write Gold - available on all campus computers
  • SensusAccess - converts files into alternate, accessible formats

Hardware

  • Large print keyboard - located in the Accommodation Room
  • Trackball mouse - available to borrow at both campus libraries' circulation desk and in the Accommodation Room
  • Envision Enlarger (magnification device) - available in the Accommodation Room
  • Microphone for speech-to-text - available to borrow at the Utica campus circulation desk

If you have any recommendations of assistive technology, please send them to jireland@mvcc.edu.
